    Learning Support Assistant - Reigate

    Invitation to join the team at a special school for children aged 5-19 years with profound autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs) and associated challenging behaviours.

    Set in extensive woodlands, the school provides a relaxed and caring environment for children, supported by a friendly and conscientious team of teachers and support assistants.

    You will work in small classes, supporting the planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities both in class and at activities such as swimming, horse riding, playtime, leisure and lunchtimes.

    We will support and encourage your continuing learning in working with pupils with autism.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    Knowledge or experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
    * The ability to understand and support children with developmental difficulty or disability
    * Knowledge or awareness of Autism
    * Knowledge or awareness of Challenging Behaviour
    * Have passion and belief in helping our pupils to achieve their full potential

    Responsibilities will include:

    Establishing productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
    * Supporting the development and implementation of Individual Education Programmes
    * Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom
    * Supporting pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs
    * Encouraging pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage in activities
    * Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self reliance
    * Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement
