Description
The bpi division sits within the Flexibles Division of Berry Global Inc. a US listed company with an annual turnover of around $13bn and over 40,000 employees.
The bpi division has manufacturing sites across the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland and Romania.
Working as a key member of our Operations Team where you will be responsible for the management of your shift to deliver production output safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and to required standards
The main duties and responsibilities will be:·Enforce Health & Safety requirements in accordance with company policy.Specifically:
oPromote positive safety culture / awareness considering behaviours and attitudes
oParticipate in safety audits/checks when required
oComplete initial accident, incident and near miss investigations and reporting
oEnforce compliance with safe working practices (SOPs)
·People:
oIdentify and support training and development of direct reports across all departments
oResponsible for the completion of all training requirements for all employees (new and existing) across all departments
oUtilisation of resources in line with business priorities and safe working guidelines
oManage internal recruitment and agency resource
oEnforce effective absence management controls and individual performance management
oReview of performance and feedback to direct reports via the appraisal process
oSupport direct reports to close out employee relations issues ensuring the correct processes are followed
oEscalate employee relations issues to the Production Manager where necessary
oPromote employee engagement across all departments
oManage attendance and all absences via the T&A system and in line with company pay rules
·Production & Quality:
oMaximise output in line with production plan
oOptimises outputs by reducing scrap levels, blend costs and energy use whilst maximising machine utilisation
oManage labour costs and plan resources effectively
oEnsure quality systems are followed, standards are met, and corrective actions are closed out
oEnforce 5s principals across all departments
oEffective delegation of engineering resource
oWork with engineering to ensure repairs and PPM is balanced against operational output and communicate as necessary to direct reports
oWork closely with planning to understand customer requirements / priorities
oEnsure systems are operating effectively and data is accurately recorded and analysed
oEnforce production/quality audit requirements
·Other:
oContribute to and communicate improvement to systems, practices and procedures across all departments
oProvide written reports on all aspects of performance including safety, people and quality using the shift dashboards
oDevelop personal knowledge and skills
oCommunicate effectively across all areas of responsibility – Safety, Quality, Production and People
oKeep up to date with changes to legislation and company policy
