    Job Description

    Peaple Talent have partnered with a global digital and creative consultancy based in South Wales who are looking to recruit a Senior PHP developer on a permanent basis. As a senior member of the development team, you will play a key role in helping to develop enterprise-level PHP software solutions, supporting installations with complex projects ranging from large scale e-commerce and brochure sites.

    You will support the team in their continued learning and development, through sharing experiences, presenting on topics, and mentoring specific skills. Alongside this, you will also be responsible for leading architectural decisions and choosing approaches to ensure the team delivers high quality software.

    You will have the opportunity to grow your skill set within the PHP ecosystem, as well as the potential to broaden your outlook to other server-side frameworks, and front-end technologies.

    Technical Skills

    • A minimum of 5 years PHP experience
    • Worked with APIs, databases, and other external data services
    • A strong understanding of and experience of working with modern PHP, including frameworks such as Symfony or Laravel
    • CSS experience, (particularly with SCSS/SASS)
    • Knowledge of code versioning tools including Git (and Github)
    • An understanding of web performance and why it's important
    • Experience of creating unit-tested solutions
    • A love of clean coding practices (SOLID etc)

    Experience

    • Utilise your knowledge and experience of PHP to lead the development of exceptional software solutions that exceed our client's expectations
    • Troubleshoot, investigate, and fix bugs
    • Participate in, and undertake, code reviews, and lead pair programming activities with others in your team
    • Lead and actively participate in project, sprint and client meetings
    • Provide specialist guidance and support, acting as a mentor and coach within the development and project teams
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to contribute towards the overall success of the business performance

    You will also ideally have experience of the following areas.

    • Experience of supporting technology, such as Elasticsearch or Varnish
    • Developed PHP applications used at an enterprise scale
    • Experience of trunk-based development and CI/CD practices
    • Knowledge of CMS-based development (e.g. Wordpress or Drupal)
