We're looking for hardworking, enthusiastic team players who are passionate about working for an award-winning cheese manufacturer, in the Vale of Belvoir situated in the picturesque village of Long Clawson, just 6 miles from Melton Mowbray, 15 miles from Grantham, 10 Miles from Bingham and 16 miles from Nottingham


The Team Leader would be reporting to the Front Line Manager, the role will ideally be suited to an individual used to working in a fast-moving multi-disciplined role.

You would be responsible for managing staff and machinery within your control areas effectively and ensuring that packing/production schedules are achieved on time, to the specified cost, quality and quantity by the most efficient utilisation of resources available.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Encourage, train, develop and motivate employees.
  • Strive to improve productivity and improve wherever possible.
  • Ensure your area and associated equipment and staff are ready and available in advance, for the start of each shift and all associated change over's.
  • Achieve set targets by reducing cheese wastage and labour costs.
  • Understands the production plan for their own area, utilise the skills of staff to maximise efficiencies, able to move staff to meet changing production demands.
  • Aware of product quality standards and specifications and ensure systems and specifications are being actively used by your team.
  • Understand and achieve daily production deadlines.
  • Communicate department performance on a daily basis, deal with staff queries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Deliver Team Briefing and answer questions with authority and knowledge.
  • Understands staffs training needs and implements a staff training programme.
  • Coordinates Raw materials and packaging supplied to department on a daily basis, with minimum production stoppages.
  • Aware of factors affecting line performance, able to manage resolution to both equipment faults and team skill gaps.
  • Responsible for Return To Work interviews, investigation of lateness and misconduct issues, work with staff on improvement required.
  • Ensure all records where required, are completed accurately.
  • Have a good level of understanding of Company Policies. Ensure Health & Safety procedures, Quality/Hygiene & technical standards and Company Rules/Procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Able to use Clawson IT Systems applicable to their role. Undertake relevant training as and when required.
  • Manage staff morale and seek to resolve ad hoc staffing issues.
  • Effectively "close out" any noncompliances raised by the customer or internal audits, by implementing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure all staff use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where appropriate.
  • Carry out detailed accident investigations as necessary.
  • Take personal responsibility for own actions and respectfully challenge others where appropriate.
  • Have a thorough understanding of products and process controls within your area.
  • Show respect for colleagues, customers and the environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring product sampling, check weighing, and process quality control checks are completed and recorded where appropriate.
  • Report problems or issues as they arise, which may impact on the department outputs.
  • You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time, as the Company may reasonably request/require.

Experience & Skills

  • Essential_
  • Adaptable/flexible to meet requirements and demands of production and seasonal fluctuations
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Industrious and be able to work under pressure
  • Good level of accuracy and numeracy when completing records
  • Good knowledge of operating machinery
  • Good standard of spoken and written English
  • Quality focused.
  • Current Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (to be achieved within 12 months)
  • Selfmotivated and able to motivate staff
  • Basic IT skills including Excel and Word
  • Must be able to prioritise tasks and deadlines
  • Must be able to work on own initiative
  • Ambitious, driven and passionate about making improvements, which lead to visible financial results and increase factory control and ownership
  • Desirable_
  • Health & Safety trained in Manual handling, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and risk assessment
  • Possess an understanding of Allergen awareness
  • Knowledge of quality and compliance systems
  • Food/process manufacturing background

Shift pattern:
Monday - Friday, 6:15am - 3pm
