    Description

    The Opportunity:


    Level 3 qualified Electrical Technicians required from a rail, marine, automotive, aerospace, army or similar industry to apply their skills on an interesting tram modification depot.

    Modification Technicians will carry out a variety of tasks including; stripping out vehicle interiors, running and crimping cable looms, installing new equipment and components, modifying existing structures and functional testing.

    Technicians will be required to work on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.


    The Situation:


    Due to a line extension between York Place and Newhaven, technicians are required to upgrade and improve a fleet of trams; to include installation, re-wiring, crimping and terminations to the trams.

    Location (s): Edinburgh


    Pay rate:
    £31.62ph (Inside IR35)

    Contract Duration: 6 months and very likely to roll over.

    Hours: 2-week shift pattern:

    Week 1- Monday to Friday 6AM-2:30PM
    Week 2- Monday to Thursday 12:30PM - 11:00PM

    Role and Responsibilities


    Carry out mechanical and electrical modifications on the rolling stock vehicles in a timely manner and in accordance to the vehicle modification instructions, mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, to ensure that they are safe, reliable and available for passenger service.

    Carry out routine testing, functional testing and certification as required by the modification procedures.
    Carry out any fault finding if required during the modification testing protocols.
    Record accurate information of all tasks carried out onto the computerised maintenance management system and modification records.
    Carry out Campaigns and Fleet Checks in accordance with instructions.
    Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to modification processes and procedures.
    Contribute to good depot housekeeping and adhere to health and safety, quality and environmental standards
    The Candidate

    The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar position within Rolling Stock, aerospace, trams, automotive or marine.

    Essentials

    Understanding of wiring diagrams, Schematics and mechanical drawings
    Able to assemble looms, harnesses and complete crimping, soldering and terminating
    Minimum requirements NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an electrical background
    Rolling stock, trams, aerospace, or marine experience
