An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 registered Nursing Associate within the Children's Community Nursing Team.


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Nursing Associate who can work flexibly to support the wider Children's Community Nursing Service to deliver healthcare to children with complex health needs, life limiting/threatening conditions, end of life care and acute healthcare needs across Newcastle.

Interview Date: 05 January 202- 37 hours 30 minutes/week

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the wider Community Nursing Service to deliver Healthcare to children with complex health needs, life limiting/threatening conditions, end of life care and acute healthcare needs.
  • To provide safe, one to one care to children in a variety of settings across Newcastle.
  • To provide support with health needs and technical dependency within the family home, nursery, school and community.
  • Provide flexible shortterm breaks to children and their families, in their homes, nurseries, schools and other community settings.
  • Alongside registered nurses, support families of children with acute nursing needs to be cared for at home on early discharge from the Great North Children's Hospital.
  • Work alongside registered nurses into two special needs schools in the city.
  • Essential Car Driver/Owner.
  • Previous experience of working in childcare or with children/young people with complex health needs would be desirable.

  • Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.
  • Exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • To contribute to all nursing care, providing care for people including those with complex needs.
  • To abide by the Trust policies and procedures.
  • Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values.
  • Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.
  • Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professionals dependent on setting.
  • Have the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the individual's defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the Nursing Associate role, assessing clinical and care advice when needed.
