About the opportunity:


We are currently looking for a permanent
Group Payroll Manager to join our growing Finance department at our Hamilton Office.

Your responsibilities:


  • Process the group's payroll, expenses and pensions, collating relevant information and checking/ challenging details where relevant. This will involve a monthly meeting with HR to start the payroll cycle through to payment to individual employees
  • Post journals and complete payroll balance sheet reconciliations for Finance month end (full training will be provided)
  • Process the group's regulatory year end activity including P11d, P60s
  • Reconcile credit card expenses at month end and ensure costs are allocated correctly
  • Manage the online HMRC account to ensure payments are allocated correctly each month
  • Support the effective administration of all payroll and benefits offerings to employees by accurately responding to enquiries, discrepancies and queries as required
  • Monitor the group payroll mailbox
  • Prepare, maintain and where required, issue accurate, payroll and benefits reports and associated statistical data, including to external auditors as part of year end audit
  • Provide quality routine advice and support on specific and related payroll, tax and employee benefits
  • Promote the core group values through the support of positive relationships across the business
  • Provide operational support to ensure the Finance/HR team goals are achieved in relation to payroll, expenses and pensions.

Experience / Knowledge:

Practical experience in a similar role.

Sound awareness of HMRC tax and National Insurance and other statutory requirements

Understanding of pension regulation including auto-enrolment

IT literate with ability to competently use software packages to complete work


Desirable:
Select Pay/ Select HR system experience

Understanding of utility/ construction sector

Experience of working for a large group


Essential:
Experience of full payroll cycle


Desirable:
HNC in Business Administration or equivalent qualification

Completion of relevant payroll Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) courses
