    Automation Development Engineer

    Droitwich

    Full time, Permanent: Monday – Friday (8am – 4pm)

    We are currently recruiting for an Automation Development Engineerto join our Droitwich Muller Milk & Ingredients business, supporting the development of automation systems and people, to continuously improve operational performance. The role may involve some travel to assist in projects at our other sites in the UK.

    As an Automation Development Engineer, the ideal candidate will have excellent problem solving and diagnostic skills, be a creative individual with a track record in delivering solutions with an ability and willingness to take on new technology.

    Automation Development Engineer Key Responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring project budgets are closely controlled at all times from concept to closure.
    • Adhering to all project reporting requirements through Müller systems and processes (Clarity, MPR, Monthly stakeholder and finance meeting as a minimum)
    • Delivery of projects on time, to the required quality and to the designed specification as agreed and signed off by project specialists and stakeholders with support from ADMs.
    • Technical support to projects team and for site delivered projects.
    • Roll outs of complex automation projects.
    • Design and delivery of less complex automation projects.
    • Maintenance of standards. Ensure compliance on central projects and provide practical feedback on the current standards.
    • Identifying obsolescence issues and improvements and creating centrally delivered Capex submissions.
    • Provide training and technical advice to colleagues.
    • Specialist automation support to site CI activities, which necessitate significant changes beyond the capabilities of ASEs
    • Reactive support for operational automation issues within a clear escalation process
    • Understand the concept of Lowest Total Cost of Ownership and design and deliver systems accordingly
    • Understand unique challenges of FMCG and design and deliver systems accordingly
    • Play an active part in continuously improving our systems and business
    • Support improvement activities / events within engineering owned areas

    Key Requirements:

    • Proficient in SCADA, Allen-Bradley PLCs
    • Desirable skills - Siemens / Mitsubishi PLCs
    • Expereince within a fast paced industry, ideally in FMCG
    • Experience with SQL databases
    • Project Management
    • Previous experience working within Automation Engineering
