Finance Manager


AJ Chambers is exclusively partnering with a highly reputable horticultural business that is a market leader in its specialist field.

You will work closely with the Managing Director to help drive the business forward with the support from the rest of the long-standing and friendly team.


As the Finance Manager, you will be solely responsible for the finance functions of the business and overseeing the practice management with a business partnering mindset.

You will ensure that deadlines are met, and a consistently high level of service isprovided to the business and client base, whilst ensuring the finance systems are maintained and up to date.


Your Role

Finance Function:


  • You will be solely accountable for the preparation of management reports, variance analysis, monthly management accounts, and yearend statutory accounts, assist in the budgeting and cash flow forecasting and month/financial yearend and update cash flowdaily, adhering to strict deadlines
  • You will carry out financial analysis on data and make recommendations for costs savings/efficiencies
  • You will manage credit control
  • You will oversee post supplier invoices and credit cards
  • You will control the payment of suppliers, wages, PAYE, VAT, Pension, staff expenses etc.
  • You will process monthly staff salaries including appropriate deductions and enhancements as agreed
  • You will review and file company VAT returns with HMRC
  • You will assist in developing systems and processes in the financial systems
  • You will review and renew insurance and other business contacts as required
  • You will prepare financial data up to VAT preparation and submission
  • You will manage the payroll system including yearend

Operational Management:


  • You will monitor timings and job costings
  • You will oversee all billing
  • You will be solely accountable for developing and providing key management information, KPIs and associated analysis to support the continuous improvement of key processes and controls whilst adhering to strict deadlines
  • You will draft and send payment schedules and update relevant systems in a timely and efficient manner
  • You will manage and update finance systems and carry out monthend checks

Bookkeeping:


  • You will prepare financial data up to VAT preparation submission
  • You must reconcile the bank to Xero
  • You will scan purchase invoices onto receipt bank and process them into Xero
  • You will send it out for approval and mark it as approved
  • You must check off any purchase invoices against purchase orders
  • You will ensure all sales invoices are input to Xero

Ad-hoc:


  • You will liaise with clients, suppliers and staff as required and provide a consistently high level of service
  • You must maintain systems and data correctly and ensure systems are kept up to date
  • You will be involved in adhoc projectbased and systems work
  • You must assist in obtaining finance where required
  • You will assist with any other duties that may be required by the company

Your Skills

  • You are commercially minded and driven
  • You are ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or Qualified by Experience (Part Qualified or Finalists will also be considered if your experience is suitable)
  • You have handson Xero experience
  • You have experience working within an agricultural business or a projectbased environment would be advantageous
  • You must drive due to the location of the business

Remuneration and Reward:

- £40,000 to £50,000 per annum (negotiable)
