    Respiratory is a fast paced and ever growing service that requires the support of a full-time Deputy Service Manager on a secondment basis.

    This post will not just involve line management of staff but service support and improvement.


    We need someone who can be flexible to move with the needs of the service and lead the team in a positive and enthusiastic way.

    Working with a vision of delivering excellence in all we do the post holder will work with the Service Manager, Associate Speciality General Manager, Specialty General Manager and wider team as required to deliver services in line with the specialities strategic vision.

    Responsibilities will include staff line management, delivery of national access targets and project goals, management of department databases and development of staff and processes for current and future strategic directions of our services.

    The post holder will develop, introduce and maintain systems and processes to guarantee the deliveryof activity, performance targets and improving patient experience

    Develop and review plans to achieve patient access targets at service level.
    Ensure that the administrative systems and processes support the development andimplementation of service plans.

    Where identified communicate and implement process changes in services to clinical andadmin/clerical staff.
    Using activity information, actively manage demand and capacity of the service.

    To manage and monitor changes to the administrative systems of the service, e.g. Understand variances against the planned activity of the service, e.g. cancellations, DNAs etc.,Communicate effectively with all clinical and Non-Clinical staff to ensure that local and nationaltargets are achieved.

    Working as part of the wider specialty leadership team, the key requirement of the job will be to monitor and ensure delivery of key performance targets ( 18 week targets ,turnaround times, A& G and waiting lists)to provide support to the Service Manager, Associate Speciality Manager, Specialty General Manager, and Head of Service, provide a patient focused administration service to hospital outpatients, day case and elective patients and provide line management to administrative staff primarily at City Hospital however cross-site working may be required.

    The post holder is also expected to assist and lead in the formulation and implementation of Service policies, projects and strategies through the efficient use of resources.

    The post holder will evaluate and develop processes and systems to ensure a caring, quality service is provided for patients and support the achievement of local and national patient access and activity targets.

    Training and Qualifications
    Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
    Experience at a management level which could include project management, change management, multidisciplinary working, human resource management, performance management
    Ability to present data and write reports
    Evidence of a proactive approach to relationship building through face to face engagement
