Description
The
main activities as a Technical Architect are listed below:

  • Provide recommendation & assurance to senior stakeholders (including SLT) and various Design Authorities to resolve for cross-divisional impacts, and ensuring a standard approach and quality of design work across the organisation.
  • Identifying opportunities for business innovation and shape design proposals for executing them; driving innovation within the business where this delivers quick wins and business benefit. Discovering, challenging, recommending, and articulating operatingmodel change, strategic questions and responses to achieve strategic goals.
  • Design and review standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact of designs on the enterprise, technology and business architecture, processes and strategic goals of relevant divisions
  • Assist with the development of relevant architecture governance process within the divisions and other stakeholder communities.
  • Contribute to the relevant communities of practice, providing thought leadership, coaching and mentoring of other employees to build the overall business architect capability within Technology Division.
The
Minimum Criteria as a Technical Architect are listed below:

  • Significant experience as a solution architect, either in professional services, financial services, or the public sector / regulated environment, using architecture methodologies and tools (TOGAF, EA Sparx, RSA etc) to deliver sound high level technicaldesigns, architecture deliverables and providing advice and guidance in relation to maintenance of an architecture road map
  • Experience in conducting market, customer and value assessments and using insights to shape business architecture in support of business strategies.
  • Experience of designing target operating models for large organisations and leading business areas through the development and execution of their strategy through business architecture.
  • Provide oversight and guidance of work of associates business architects.
The
Essential Criteria as a Technical Architect are listed below:

  • Expertise in architectural frameworks and concepts, methodologies and mapping standards and approaches i.e. capability maps, value chain analysis, value creation and business models and experience in the use of enterprise architecture tooling.
  • Detailed knowledge of people, processes, technology, partnerships/interactions and governance that supports the relevant business division and how divisional objectives, outcomes and initiatives impact other business areas.
  • Good facilitator, drawing out problems, active listening skills, involving and gaining commitment from the relevant stakeholders in the business with credibility and gravitas to establish trust, gaining consensus and buyin, orchestrating engagement andcollaboration with senior leadership.
  • A proactive and creative thinker, whilst grounded in the use of analysis tools and frameworks to solve problems and innovate.
  • Excellent communication skills able to translate technical information, challenges, and requirements into easily understandable and digestible content for a business audience.
The
Desirable Criteria as a Technical Architect are listed below:

  • Understanding of (or curiosity and willingness to learn about) the relevant FCA divisions and their functions, processes and the outcomes they are seeking to achieve, including how this links to FCA strategy and objectives.
  • Experience in complex and significant ntier implementations, delivering architecture artefacts to software, project management, SDLC, SCRUM, Agile methodologies.
