The City & Capital Group are delighted to be representing one of the UK's most highly lenders of specialist property finance who are seeking to appoint a confident, knowledgeable and ambitious Relationship Manager (Portfolio) to their growing team at a genuinelyexciting time.


Our client is achieving record performances for lending on a regular basis, backed by excellent longstanding funding lines and further increased investment.

The result has seen the lender double in size over the last 12 months, with ambitions to achievethe same again over the coming period.

The lender offers a range of loans designed for commercial borrowers, such as property investors, developers & SME businesses.

This includes solutions such as bridging finance, development exit loans and a range of Buy to Let & commercial property financepropositions.

Loan sizes can range between £250k - £40m.


This is a key appointment for the lender and is a brand new role created in line with demand and the needs of borrowers.

This is not a business development role where you will be expected to hunt for new business from industry prospects.

Instead the arriving Relationship Manager will form part of the lenders Loan Management team.

This means that you will inherit & work with a portfolio of clients who have loans active within the lenders loan book, as well as longstanding clients of the businesswho may require further borrowing for future property ventures.

You will be the key point of contact for such clients to cover a range of queries and requirements.


You will ultimately be responsible for ensuring that borrowers receive the best possible service throughout the lifecycle of their relationship with the lender.

This may mean that your contact with such borrowers can range from simple or daily queries, throughto more complex requirements for loan management or further borrowing.


Client retention is key & best achieved through the level of customer service already outlined, but also by the ability to make suggestions and recommendations.

This may be to support the performance of existing loans, or the provision of new debt for theborrower that assists their property projects & financial position.


You will actively seek to identify opportunities for the borrower that you can share with them on a consultative basis.

For example, you may work with a bridging finance client who needs an exit to a BTL term loan or a client that may be finalising a largerdevelopment project and requires a bridging loan to exit that.

All borrowers are commercial entities or property professionals with the most common format for borrowing being via an SPV. So you will not be dealing with consumers, rather experienced real estate specialists.


Due to the above the ideal individual for this role will be a confident real estate/property finance specialist with a strong track background in commercial property lending and relationship management.

You will have a good technical knowledge of deal structuresand will be confident in guiding borrowers throughout the life cycle of commercial property loans and will be equally confident in assisting them where loans are not performing.


In addition you will be confident when assessing loan/borrower positions to advise and guide on loan restructuring or new borrowing, be that to support loans that are coming to the ends of the term, or by identifying different property projects that ourclient could support/fund.


Relationship Manager (Portfolio) - Required Experience:

  • Strong experience of commercial property finance lending & deal structures
  • Excellent relationship management credentials
  • Strong credit/risk knowledge, commercial property finance
  • Some underwriting experience would be beneficial, though not essential
  • Demonstrable success against objectives in previous roles key

The salary on offer is negotiable based on experience, but has been benchmarked at between £60k - £75k. Higher offers may also be considered for exceptional experience.

As this is a new role created our client is keen to ensure they can attract best in sector,so can be flexible on the salary.


The role will also be complemented by an outstanding bonus structure that will allow you to increase earnings significantly for the commercial successes you are able to generate.

Happy to discuss the detail, but you can expect a six figure OTE, where excellentperformance is delivered.

It isexpected that this team will grow with demand and that eventually it will require a leader to build and grow a team beneath them.

You will be in the driving seat for this should you be able to own and deliver in the RM role.

This mirrors the successful growthof other departments within the firm and is key part of the strategy for this team too.

This role will be based in the lenders lovely Mayfair offices, Monday - Friday.
