Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator


Location:
Lympne, Hythe


Salary:
£28,000


Hours:
Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm OR 9.00am - 6.00pm

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Manage warehouse manpower i.e. work allocation and deployment of staff.
  • Maintain accurate of stock levels through regular stock checks and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Oversee the planning and building of groupage trailers from the hub for dispatch of goods according to the in house warehouse and groupage program whilst managing the departments priorities.
  • Work with the Transport Planning team to coordinate the most efficient routing and service possible.
  • Manage and optimise loads.
  • Control inventory of all goods and materials entering the warehouse.
  • Oversee the goods inwards procedures, ensuring goods are booked to the accepted time allotment.
  • Supervisor a team of 3 in the warehouse.
  • Ensure a smooth and timely flow of goods and materials through the warehouse with liaison between the appropriate departments.
  • Meet the departmental benchmarks and KPIs related to back orders.
  • Make recommendations for improvements within the warehouse and distribution areas.
  • Be able to retain information about clients to understand their booking in times and preferences for deliveries.
  • Delegate worksheets to the warehouse team to load trailers in the order the drivers will deliver goods.
  • Updating worksheets on Excel.
  • Building relationships and liaising with customers and other departments.
  • Load planning
  • Updating jobs on the warehouse management program.
  • Daily route plan for UK deliveries and work closely with the UK team.
  • Plan all consolidation routing for both UK and European deliveries.
  • Complete transhipping sheets for the warehouse team both inbound and outbound loads.
  • Complete and manage paperwork and CMRS for transhipping sheets.
  • Quote customers for storage and handling options.
  • Manage all cost sheets for ongoing storage and handling costs.
  • Liaise with customers regarding their deliveries.
  • Booking collections and deliveries into respective destinations.
  • Monitor collections and deliveries ensure they are on time.
  • Advise clients and other team members of any delays.
  • You will be required to take calls outside of working hours as the warehouse is open between 6am9pm (but this happens on rare occasions)
  • Replan loads if problems occur.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  • 3 years minimum experience within warehousing, transport and logistics across the UK and Europe
  • Good level of Geography
  • Good communication skills and the ability to liaise with multiple departments
  • Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ideally you will have experience of working with pallets
  • Be methodical
  • History of managing a varying workload
  • The ability to methodically plan routes
  • Understanding of drivers regulations, weight distributions, loading meters and groupage.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Well spoken English
  • The ability to problem solve and think quickly on your feet
  • Flexible approach as things can change each hour if a customer changes their requirements
  • The ability to multitask
  • Be able to work well in a team, as well as on your own initiative
  • Forklift licence would be ideal, but not essential
  • Automotive industry / JIT experience would be ideal
