The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Lime Gardens in Dudley - we're well connected to local bus routes and offer on-site parking too.

This is a part-time role working 19 hours a week, on a rota basis including alternate weekends - shifts are between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

In this busy and varied role, you'll work in and out of the kitchen, ensuring our residents receive an excellent catering service.

In the kitchen you'll work under the direction of the Cook, supporting the service by preparing good homemade light meals, printing food labels and menu sheets, and ensuring standards of cleanliness are upheld at all times.

There is also potential for you to develop your skills further and progress within the team. More information on this can be discussed at interview stage.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Cook with the overall catering service
  • Cook meals for residents as and when appropriate
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment in the kitchen, restaurant, and scheme in general
  • Assist with events and functions including bake sales and buffet
  • Order food and supplies

Lime Gardens is host to a vibrant community with residents who enjoy getting involved in activities and spending time in the communal areas.

In this role, you'll enjoy preparing a variety of home-cooked meals including Sheppard's Pies and Sponge Puddings, as well as participate in regular events such as Bake Sales.

  • Have experience of working in catering service
  • Ideally have a Food Safety Level 2 qualification or must be obtained within 6 months of employment
  • Are confident in operating a basic till and cash handling
  • Customer focused and motivated to deliver a consistently high level of service
