One of the UK's leading automation system integrators specialising across warehousing are currently recruiting for an Electrical Controls Engineer.
Job Summary:
The Electrical PLC Engineer will be overseeing the PLC and controls equipment across a wide range of automated machinery, so downtime is kept to minimum ensuring the facility is running at full capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
To undertake emergency PLC / fault finding repairs in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and industry standard practices
Fix, maintain, and troubleshoot control systems incorporating relay PLC logic controlled components-optical sensors, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachos, and encoders.
Complete Electrical and PLC continuous improvement work using compiled dataComplete PLC integration and interrogation
Data-mining via WCS/WMS system / SCADA EIS / raw data to help drive issue resolution
Ensuring Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) are in place adhered to for all technical activities as required
To accurately record all work undertaken
Coordinate and execute the service jobs according to our SLA
To identify continuous improvement and sales opportunities at the client site
Assist with upskilling and training electrical engineers
Comply with all Health, Safety and Environment policies and other relevant regulations ensuring accurate recording and reporting of any incidents, accidents or near misses.
Requirements3+ years PLC controls experience and a strong track record in a similar role
working experience with PLC's (Siemens preferably)
Experience with PLC and controls fault finding, interrogation and upgrades
Electrical controls system experience including inverter drives, barcode scanning equipment, Profibus / Profinet / ASi-bus / ASi-Safe / Ethernet etc.
Experience and proficiency in the following areas:Electrical and electronic principles
Knowledge of MMS/WMS/WCS programs and implementation
Industrial electrical, controls, electronics
PLCs - knowledge of Siemens S7 and/or Allen Bradley
Qualifications/Experience
Time served Apprenticeship or equivalent.
NVQ level 3 or equivalent in engineering (electrical)
ONC qualified engineering qualification or equivalent (electrical bias preferred) minimum
Electrical controls system experience including inverter drives, barcode scanning equipment, Profibus / Profinet / ASi-bus / ASi-Safe / Ethernet etc.
PLC (Siemens) preferablyPC, database, comm's networks
Experience of working within a high-pressured environment
