    At Torbay Council, we are committed to providing exceptional services to our community. As part of our Children's Services team, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Support Officer to join us. If you have experience with Capita One and/or Liquid Logic Systems, we want to hear from you

    You would be working as one of four Systems Officers tasked with providing user support for both Capita and Liquid Logic. A typical working day would involve hosting user support sessions, responding to user tickets, and data management tasks. The team are responsible for development of the systems and will need technical skills such as creating forms and user defined lists. You would be part of a wider Business Intelligence Service, working with Business Analysts and Report Writers to meet the operational and strategic needs of children's services.
    • Experience of Capita and/or Liquid Logic.
    • The post holder would be responsible for providing a high-quality customer service to users of the system across the service.
    • The successful candidate will have the necessary skills to be able to build confidence amongst the staff team, promoting good practice and ensuring effective business processes are in place.
    • You will have the necessary system knowledge to be able to identify problems, promote preventable solutions and design and create service defined forms.
    • We are looking for a candidate that is driven to provide high quality services and has the ability to use the system to create performance information.
    • You must be able to work as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
    • You will need a high level of accuracy, organisation, and an attention to detail.
    • Remote working will be considered.
    This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

    Skills

    Essential:
    • Expert ICT and keyboard skills, including Microsoft Office applications sufficient to produce guidance documents, user instructions and complex reports.
    • Effective communication skills to include the ability to convey information accurately and clearly when explaining system details and complex detailed procedures.
    • Influencing and persuading more senior staff to complete tasks that they will consider to be additional and onerous to their current work demands.
    • Ability to listen to presented information, analyse, and solve problems in order to respond effectively to customer needs.
    • Demonstrable customer focus, remaining professional when dealing with staff that may be angry and frustrated about difficulties with the information system they are using.
    As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

    Knowledge

    Essential:
    • Considerable and detailed knowledge of a database centric software package.
    • Expert user and development knowledge of Management Information Systems.

    Experience & Qualifications

    Essential:
    • Educated to 'A' level standard or equivalent or significant demonstrable experience.
    • Computer systems administration experience sufficient to effectively maintain, develop and utilise a variety of systems.
    • Experienced in dealing with competing priorities in a time sensitive environment.
    • Able to demonstrate experience of working in an end-user environment
    • Experience of problem resolution with external software suppliers.
