We are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable kitchen assistant to assist with serving meals as well as perform all washing and cleaning duties required in the kitchen area.
The kitchen assistant's responsibilities include assisting with stock control, removing the bins, ensuring the kitchen is cleaned to an excellent standard of hygiene, monitoring and cleaning refrigerators, freezers, and storage cupboards.
You should also be able to record notable food wastages.
You will be responsible for ensuring the dining area is clean, tidy with tables laid appropriately and to a high standard.
To be successful as a kitchen assistant, you should exercise exceptional time management and ensure that all duties are completed in a timely manner.
Kitchen Assistant Responsibilities:
- Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
- Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes.
- Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
- Assisting and working with the cook in the main kitchen as and when asked.
- Organising and correctly storing food supplies.
- Promptly transferring meals from the main kitchen area to your allocated place of work.
- Ensuring meals are presented to a high standard and are served hot. You will also be expected to prepare hot beverages and help serve these to residents in your area of work.
- Strict hygiene controls must be followed in line with company policy, using gloves and aprons accordingly.
- Good personal hygiene and appearance is essential. Long hair must be tied back and no long nails.
Kitchen Assistant Requirements:
- Experience of working in kitchens is desirable but not essential.
- A food hygiene certificate is an advantage.
- Excellent standards of food health and safety regulations is an advantage although training will be provided.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- The ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
- The ability to work in a team.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills
- Meal assistance for residents is an optional job role, the hours of which are 8.30am 1pm
