National Lottery Community Fund we are able to offer this vital new role within our team.


The Hub is a Yeovil charity with a vision that adults with learning disabilities and autism enjoy equal access to leisure, learning and employment, leading fulfilling lives where they can achieve their goals, be part of the community and realise their true potential.


The Trainee Wellbeing Co-ordinator provides highly visible and effective pastoral support for the Hub's trainees (adults with learning disabilities and autism).

An experienced practitioner of services for people with autism and learning disabilities, who is capable of maintaining the highest standards of service and personal outcomes for trainees that exemplify the charity's expectations.

The Trainee Wellbeing Co-ordinator will help to ensure every trainee receives a positive, enjoyable, and meaningful experience at the Hub by supporting trainees with their mental wellbeing, helping them achieve their goals, regularly checking-in with trainees and maintaining regular communication with their parents/carers.


Responsibilities:


  • To provide support to new referrals and ensure a smooth transition to the Hub
  • To provide regular checkins with trainees re their wellbeing, resilience, mental health, anxieties, and goals etc
  • To be the main point of contact for parents and carers re trainee issues and the need for additional support etc
  • To provide the lead role on identifying solutions for trainees' triggers and ensuring that the Hub's Work Coaches and the trainees' family/carers adopt a consistent approach to solutions
  • To signpost parents/carers to external support agencies where appropriate
  • To identify appropriate training re the wellbeing of trainees and train the Hub's Work Coaches in best practice and appropriate techniques
  • To ensure that appropriate documentation regarding the trainees is accurate and up to date including All About Me forms, Incident and Behavioural Reports
  • To run occasional sessions for the Hub's trainees to develop skills for life and help them reach their full potential.
  • To work with the Work Coaches team to plan, develop and deliver activities and sessions for trainees in line with the timetable
  • To work in conjunction with the management team to discuss solutions for individual trainees
  • To support trainees to engage in meaningful vocational activities and, where appropriate, employment
  • To work as part of a team that is always open, honest and supportive of each other

Requirements:


  • Practical knowledge of young people and adults with learning disabilities and difficulties is essential
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organise own workload
  • Ability to effectively train other members of staff
  • Effective communication skills for varied audiences trainees, parents/carers and external organisations
  • Ability to reflect and strive to improve the way you work and to develop your skills.
  • Trained in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid
  • Full driving licence

  • To be aware of the importance of safeguarding policies and procedures and to always discuss with a colleague any safeguarding concerns.
