    Description

    Wokingham Borough Council has an excellent opportunity available for a Transport Officer to join our Community Transport Team, on a 9-month fixed-term contract.

    As the Transport Officer, we'll look to you to provide support for the processing of Home to School Transport applications, as well as supporting the team in day-to-day activities for any element of Home to School or Adult Social Care Transport.

    This is a superb opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who wants to be part of a dynamic Highways and Transportation Service.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing Home to School Transport applications and answering queries from parents about their applications, including the eligibility of students based on the Council's Home to School Transport policy.
  • Support the team with the validation of transport operator applications and variations to contracts through the Councils new dynamic purchasing procurement system.
  • Assist with resolving day-to-day queries about the operation of transport to schools, colleges, and adult social care settings, and liaising with transport operators and other Council departments to ensure the most suitable and efficient transport for those clients who are eligible.
  • Support the team with data input, basic data analysis in excel and the administration of bus pass applications.
  • Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer relations skills and be confident to respond to and engage with customers in relation to transport enquiries.
  • Good time management skills to support the Team in meeting key performance indicators for the processing of applications and responses to residents.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft systems including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience in home to school transport, adult social care, DBS checks and safeguarding is desirable, although full training will be provided.
