Healthcare Assistant Outpatients
Primary Location:
The London Digestive Centre but will be expected to work at secondary sites i.e. 30 Devonshire Street, ISEH, and London Breast Institute
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday shifts required from 8am - 8.30pm, shift patterns include 8am - 4pm and 12noon - 8.30pm. Occasional Saturdays shifts may be required, 3- 4 per year.

As a health care assistant, you will work under the guidance of a registered nurse and assist in organisation of clinics, chaperoning and assisting medical staff in outpatient procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Keeping the treatment rooms organised, clean and tidy at all times
- Monitor stock levels and inform clinical staff when additional stock needs to be ordered
- Ensure clinical areas are restocked regularly
- Clean and inspect equipment reporting any faults
- Demonstrate a high standard of customer care in dealing with consultants, other clinical staff, patients and relatives
- Recognise own limitations and request assistance as necessary
- Maintain a high level of clinical practice
- Attend training and complete competencies as required e.g. fibroscan, neurogastro etc.
- To take responsibility for own practice, in accordance with the hospital guidelines/protocols
- Maintain confidentiality
- Ensure correct labelling and transport of specimens
- Chaperoning and assisting medical staff
- Carry out observations, investigations and treatments as required
- Assess patient's condition through basic measurements
- To treat patients in an environment that preserves personal dignity and privacy and ensure patient comfort
- Report any concerns to the Nurse in charge
- Ensure all patient charges are capture
- Keep clear and accurate records
- To maintain compliance with mandatory training at all times
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in healthcare /hospital
- Evidence of updating clinical skills/knowledge
- Ability to assist in coordinating the outpatient area
- Evidence of professional and personal development
