    Hackney Council's Building Maintenance Teams work streams are rapidly expanding, we are looking for qualified operatives in a number of trades to increase our direct workforce. We are looking for individuals to help us maintain the properties we look after. Your role will be to help make sure these homes are safe and maintained to a high standard for the people who live in them. You will be working on properties across Hackney, some of these homes will be occupied but you will also be helping us prepare others for their new occupants.

    A reasonable level of fitness is required as some of the work is physically demanding, you may need to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. You will need to apply common sense to your duties, be able to manage your time and take pride in your work.     You will benefit from experience in repairs and maintenance and have a good level of customer service. You will need to hold a full UK manual driving licence (with no more than three penalty points) as you will be provided with a work vehicle. To be able to do this work, you need to have a NVQ or City & Guilds qualification and/or relevant experience in your specific trade. You will also need to have IT skills as you may be using a handheld device to record your work.
