About us

Rondel House provides a Day Service for older people who live in the Central & Eastern areas of The Vale of Glamorgan, who may suffer from age related frailty, chronic illness, disability and/or dementia.

We currently run a 5-day service, Monday to Friday, and provide a safe environment where people can interact and have fun through a range of activities.

Our aim is to keep people as independent as possible but also to provide social stimulation and prevent loneliness.


At Rondel House our Kitchen Team provide a lunchtime meal to both our own clients but, importantly, to our other day services at different locations in Barry (the Assistant Cook post may be based at other locations in Barry).

Our Kitchen Team aim to provide a good, nutritious meal suitable to our clients individual needs.

Our service aims to promote equality, choice, independence and personal development to improve quality of life for individuals.


About the role

We are looking for
an Assistant Cook to help with the lunchtime service of meals at our Day Services across Barry.

You will work both within the Day Service at Rondel House and also at other Day Service locations.

The role will be to:

  • Help prepare for a lunchtime meal service
  • To serve meals to our clients at different locations
  • To help with the delivery of meals to those locations, including driving a company vehicle.
  • Clean down after lunch service and leave the kitchen ready for the next day
  • Keep accurate records of food temperatures, fridge temperatures etc.
  • Work with the Cook to ensure everyone's dietary requirements are met
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained at all times
  • Engage in training to ensure you meet regulatory requirements and keep up to date with relevant skills.
  • To deputise for the Cook in their absence including covering annual leave
  • Positively contribute to the Kitchen Team and help deliver improvements

About you

You will need:

  • To be able to meet high standards in food handling & kitchen hygiene
  • To have an understand of nutrition and dietary requirements
  • To be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • To keep accurate daily/weekly/monthly records as required
  • To be committed to providing excellent customer service
  • A driving license and access to a vehicle
