    Description

    The Emily Hobhouse Museum to be opened in St Ive, near Liskeard, Cornwall (UK), has an exciting opportunity for a general manager.

    The role includes overseeing the visitor attraction shop, museum experience, kitchen garden and restaurant.

    Requirements:
    A qualification in hospitality management or business management.
    Relevant experience in hotel management, restaurant management or visitor attraction management.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
    Proven ability to manage a team.
    Experience of financial management.
    A passionate disposition and the ability to maintain high standards under pressure.
    Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
    Interest in South African history will be advantageous.

    Responsibilities:
    Building and leading a team of personnel who will facilitate visitor attractions across various departments (exhibitions, restaurant, maintenance).
    Creating and facilitating a unique guest experience.
    Upkeep of all museum installations, of which some could be technically complex.
    Overseeing management of restaurant team.
    Managing site maintenance, including gardens and grounds.
    Defining long-term goals, developing business models, and implementing such plans.
    Building on employee strengths and positioning teams accordingly.
    Managing suppliers and building strong community relations.
    Managing the museums operations and budget.
    Managing the museums marketing, public relations, and community engagement.
