British Transport Police are looking to recruit a Resource Planning Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract based at our Manchester Offices.

The role is paying up to £29,076.18 per annum.

The Force Resource Planning Unit is operational 7 days per week between 0700 and 1900 hrs and to maintain this capability, employees within the unit will be fully supported to work an agile approach utilising a roster that enables a blended approach of home and office-based working.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

As Resource Planning Officer with BTP, you will play a key part in keeping the travelling public safe by ensuring our Police Officers and Support Staff are in the right place at the right time to serve the Public.

Your role will vary from resourcing high profile events, protests, football (both club and international fixtures) to maintaining 24-hour cover across the UK rail network.

As Resource Planning Officer you will be required to:

  • Ensure cover and skill levels are maintained throughout the Force and provide resource options to managers and Senior Officers where levels are not being reached.
  • Liaise with other departments to identify and resolve resourcing related issues.
  • Using supporting systems oversee future abstractions of resources.
  • Produce rosters in a timely manner to minimise costs whilst maintaining the required resource and skill levels.
The successful Resource Planning Officer will be required to evidence the following:

  • Experience of working within a dynamic planning environment and/or prior experience organising employees/resources to cover events, projects, or activities.
  • Proven ability to horizonscan and plan effectively, understanding the implication of each action.
  • A successful track record of working as part of a team in a large, multidisciplined operational organisation.
  • An ability to multitask, problemsolve and manage conflicting priorities, whilst working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer literacy and analytical skills
