About the role:


The team provides expertise and functional leadership in the identification of system development requirements analysis of University processes, contributes to the specification of developments and their solutions, manages user acceptability testing, documentation, training and continued support.

A large proportion of the deliverables require project management.

The role provides intelligence which feeds into and enables key decisions to be made at high levels including establishing policies and regulations.

You will have excellent communication and problem solving skills. You will provide expert advice around processes, procedures, data, deliverables and system usage to all levels of the business.


Principal accountabilities:


  • To undertake a lead role for the system administration of multiple systems within the remit of the team, ensuring that the most effective and efficient solutions are delivered, through effective configuration and ongoing maintenance. Ensuring that all systems and processes are GDPR compliant.
  • To provide expertise in the identification of system development through requirements gathering and analysis of University processes, contributing to the specification of developments and their solutions, whilst managing user acceptability, testing, documentation and training.
  • To deliver quality assurance and control around both systems and data usage whilst still maintaining flexibility of use.
  • Ensure that all developments are secure and compliant to all necessary regulations and legislative requirements. To ensure that the development and documentation of all key policies, procedures and standards relating to the team are available, regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Successful delivery of multiple projects, from beginning to end, working effectively with colleagues across the University to ensure the delivery is on budget, on time, and with focus on quality to the satisfaction of the customer. To support the Senior Functional Analyst(s) in ensuring the production and upkeep of the required project management document set, including the identification and appropriate management of benefit tracking systems, project issues and risks to ensure that deliverables are not compromised and that sensible and appropriate alternatives are found and agreed upon.
  • To support the data quality processes to prevent reoccurrence/strengthen data sets in accordance with the outlined strategy. Using quantitative and analytic abilities to report &/or interrogate data.
  • To support the review of data models to ensure the use of electronic data continually improves to drive overall corporate efficiency and quality.   • To work closely with stakeholder groups to ensure expectations are effectively managed. Responsible for ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Ensure the continuous research and development of both new system functionality and your own skill set to ensure that you remain a leading UK system specialist for all systems within the remit of the team. Your updated skill set will include XML report creation, query report writing and SQL (list not definitive).
  • To ensure effective communication with the line manager regarding work in progress, implementation of developments and emerging trends or issues.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships within The Registry, ITS and the wider University and other HEI's to help facilitate collaborative working and excellent project delivery
  • Oversee the security process, ensuring robust security systems and processes are in place and where possible are automated and auditable across all systems within the remit of the team.
  • To undertake a lead role to source new/existing developments in order to gain benefits and efficiencies within existing technologies working together with functional users to facilitate developments/enhancements.
  • Support the embedding of new/revised processes into functional areas.
  • To be proactive in the identification and production of report development from internal data sets to assist with data usage, audit requirements or for supporting key decision making and/or policy definition.
  • To actively promote the relevant system(s) internally and externally including, attending promotional events, user groups etc.
