Job title:
Assistant Foundation Phase Coach


Department:
Coaching

Hours: 4 hours plus a match day


Job purpose:

  • To assist on the individual, group, and team planning of the football pathway within the foundation phase
  • Ensuring each player has an uptodate and relevant individual development plan. Support the Lead FDP in leading the phase.

Based at:
Stockport sports village


Reports to:
Lead FDP


Responsible for:

  • Assisting the lead coach
Key relationships

  • Academy Players/parents, Academy Manager, Head of Coaching, Lead Analyst, Lead Academy Coaching Staff, Part Time Coaching Staff, Medical staff, Lead S&C Coach, Head of Recruitment, and Head of Operations.

External - Opposition Club Coaches, Parents, Regulatory Bodies (EFL, The FA, PFA, LFE)

Key responsibilities

  • To assist in the foundation age groups on match and training days.
  • To review SCFC core sessions with colleagues and update accordingly.
  • To assist in the planning and delivery of training sessions that prioritise an individual player development focus within SCFC core sessions.
  • Provide impactful feedback to players to support progression.
  • Liaise with parents of players to create a collaborative approach.
  • Ensure the retention of players is always prioritised within planning.
  • Observe and prioritise individual player development within training and fixtures.
  • Support Foundation Phase lead coaches with all aspects of the role, including coaching delivery to enhance best practice.
General responsibilities

  • Ensure you work towards your own Development Action Plan assigned to you by the Head of Coaching in line with the coach competency framework (CCF).
  • Flexibility to work in this role is essential evenings and weekend work required.
  • Annual leave to be taken as agreed with the Head of Coaching
  • Attend all County insights and research events as instructed by Head of Coaching
  • Contribute to parents' evenings and other phases where required.
  • Participate in all relevant meetings.
  • Display high standards of performance as outlined in SCFC staff code of conduct.
  • Contribute towards a positive working environment.
  • Provide genuine care for players within the Academy and offer a safe environment where players can succeed.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Academy Manager or technical board if asked to do so.
Skills required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools (verbal, written, digital)
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • IT skills to include the ability to use performance analysis software and Microsoft office
Knowledge & qualifications required

Essential_

  • First aid qualified (EFAIF level 2)
  • UEFA B License
  • Advanced Youth Award
  • FA Safeguarding & Child Protection

Desirable_

  • UEFA A
  • License
  • Sports Coaching/Science or Sports Management Degree

Experience required:

  • Working in an elite sporting environment and understanding how elite footballers are developed.
  • Experience working across academy age groups.
  • Understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP)
  • Experience of scouting & talent identification processes and procedures
  • IT skills to include the ability to use Performance.
  • Management Application (FIP) software and Microsoft
  • Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
