    Do you want to work for a Sonography Service that excels in its service delivery and benefits from impressive equipment standards?

    Then we would love for you to join our dynamic and supportive team of multi-disciplinary Sonographers here at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust You can be either a general medical or obstetric sonographer or both


    You will get the opportunity to perform all obstetric (including Nuchal scans), general abdominal, gynaecological ultrasound examinations at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and peripheral sites, working in line with Band 7 expectations in all areas of practice.

    Our purpose-built Diagnostic Ultrasound department has a fleet of flag-ship GE equipment, a successful (
    10 years) rolling Sonographer training program, 7-day affable Radiologist support and dedicated Interventional Ultrasound facilities.


    Our refurbished Antenatal clinic based adjacent to the antenatal clinic, providing Antenatal care to approximately 3500 women a year, has state-of-the-art Canon/GE equipment in a 4-bed unit, providing an interdisciplinary fusion of Radiographer, Nurse and Midwife Sonographer led services.

    **As an Obstetric Sonographer, you will be an integral part of the maternity sevice and work closely with the Obstetric teams to provide exceptional care to all patients. As a General Medical Sonographer, you will be a strong team player, working as part of team undertaking a wide range of examinations. You are expected, across both disciplines, to perform and report ultrasound examinations to a high standard in a professional manner, working within departmental guidelines whilst being accountable for your own practice. Reports are expected to be of high quality providing advice on future patient management to other clinicians.

    Somerset has a thriving rural community that we serve from several modern purpose-built Community Hospital sites currently in Minehead, Bridgwater, Glastonbury, Wellington and Chard, with further ultrasound facilities at the state of the art CDC on the outskirts of Taunton.

    Experience in small parts and paediatric ultrasound would be advantageous as would experience of working within the Saving Babies lives care bundle and Nuchal Translucency scanning.

    None of these are essential as additional support and training can be given as required, to the right applicant.


    You will need to be flexible in your working and adaptable to change, looking to become part of a successful team.

    5 per week including evenings,weekends and bank holidays.

    Pg Certificate in Medical Ultrasound (CASE accredited)
    Pg Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (CASE accredited)
    Recent proven NHS experience performing Ultrasound examinations

    Driving licence with access to a vehicle with business insurance as travelling required to and from outlying sites
