Band 7 Senior Clinical Skills Facilitator


The Clinical Learning and Development team provides Trust wide clinical education, ranging from basic skills to advance interventional skills and knowledge.


You will be joining a dynamic multi-professional team with the aim to support and coordinate the development of the clinical skills training of the undergraduate doctors, nurses and members of the multidisciplinary team.

This post is a permanent full-time post. The post holder will be coordinating the educational activities and assessments of learning.


The post holder will actively promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities across the Division and Trust wide and be an effective role model for best practice.

  • To maintain primary responsibility for ensuring the Trust provides a progressive learning environment for all clinical staff level. The post holder will support and coordinate the clinical skills training of the multidisciplinary team. This includes the pre and post registration: doctors, nurses, nursing associates, midwifery, AHP and undergraduate doctors from Imperial College by coordinating educational activities within the department.
  • Responsible for the Skills Laboratory and maintenance of the equipment while providing training, assessment of clinical competencies and support.
  • To be involved in corporate agenda by participating in practice and development within their division and liaising with the clinical managers as appropriate.
  • These duties will be carried out in liaison with the Director of Clinical Studies, Teaching Coordinator for Undergraduate Medical Education and the Head of Nursing Practice Development and Education.
  • To support all educational programmes provided by the Clinical Learning and Development team Trust wide
  • The post holder will actively promote and contribute to interprofessional learning activities across the Division and Trust wide
  • The post holder will provide educational and clinical support in the clinical area for 25% of their working time.
  • To demonstrate effective communication and customer care skills thereby acting as a positive role model for staff on all levels.

Clinical Practice

  • To ensure that the post holder's practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge and evidence based.
  • To work in accordance with the NMC, GMC and HCPC's Code of Professional Conduct, and Trust Policies and Procedures.
  • To work clinically on a regular planned basis, supporting learners in developing their practice.
  • To produce written accounts of each episode of clinical facilitation, documenting learning objectives achieved and areas for further development.
  • To demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in clinical settings, and support the advancement of knowledge and skills using evidence
