    A great opportunity has arisen to join the RUH as Lead Nurse for Learning Disability and Autism.

    This is an exciting time to join us and be part of the ongoing development and progression of our vulnerable people service.

    The successful candidate will join a supportive team of dedicated staff who are committed to delivering improvements in service delivery and health outcomes for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

    The ideal candidate will have substantive experience of working with people with a learning disability and autistic people.


    We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who has the passion, drive, skills and desire to be part of our service and wants to make a real difference for people with a learning disability and autistic people.


    The post holder will be the Trust's designated lead for Learning Disability and Autism, and will lead, inspire, and drive delivery of the Learning Disability and Autism Agenda and strategic development.


    The post holder will act as the Trust's expert for all aspects around Learning Disability and Autism, and provide core leadership and training.

    Provide a visible and credible presence within the Trust in relation to all aspects of learning disability and autism.

    Maintain a high profile for learning disability and autism throughout the Trust.


    Work alongside the Trust patient engagement lead to ensure people with a learning disability and autistic people are included in patient feedback and service innovation and development.


    Raise the profile of the health care needs of people with a learning disability and autistic people within the Trust.


    Influence and improve the quality of care received by people with a learning disability and autistic people in the acute hospital setting, and ensure open and easy access to Trust services ensuring all reasonable adjustments are considered and embedded.


    Lead on the development of the Learning Disability and Autism Strategy at the RUH, supporting the Trust to develop a culture that recognises and promotes parity of esteem for all people we care for.


    Develop partnership links and support the interface between the Trust and Specialist Learning Disability and Autism services and partners in order to help facilitate a smooth pathway through services.

    Registered Nurse with significant experience in learning disability and autism or Registered Learning Disability Nurse
    Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

    Post-registration qualification/post-graduate diploma and training preferably in Learning Disability and Autism

    Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
    Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
    Training in Managing Conduct, Health, Sickness and Performance, Recruitment and Selection, Appraisal

    Post-registration qualification/post-graduate diploma and training preferably in Learning Disability and Autism
    QI methodology training
