THE ROLE


The role of Procurement Officer within the Procurement function is to provide support in the purchase of goods, materials and services, to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analysing market trends to help create and implement strategies that drive sales growth
  • Negotiating prices and terms of sale with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Reviewing bids received from suppliers to ensure they meet the company's standards for quality and price
  • Scheduling deliveries of inventory to ensure that items are received on time
  • Coordinating with vendors to ensure that orders are within budget and organising blanket/call off orders to reduce price and guarantee service
  • Researching new suppliers to find competitive rates for new products or services
  • Compiling reports on inventory levels and other business metrics for use in future planning
  • Following protocol for processing orders and invoices
  • Determining whether orders meet specifications
  • Develop and maintain a supplier database to strengthen the procurement process
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality problems in conjunction with company quality standards
  • Identify and monitor procurement across the business to assist the development of a longterm approach to procurement in order to deliver savings, efficiency, value for money, quality standards and targets, diversity objectives, environmental standards and improved capability

  • Supplier management and rationalisation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CIPS or studying towards the qualification would be preferable.

Additional Requirements:


  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the postholder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Vice President/CEO from time to time. Subject to adequate experience and/or training.
  • To participate in the annual performance appraisal and objective setting scheme.
  • To work in accordance with all company policies including Health and Safety, Employment, Staff, Quality and Environmental.
