Parkview Surgery is offering a varied role to support the learning and development of an Apprentice Receptionist/Administrator and they offer a flexible working pattern.
You will be enrolled on the Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 with Clinical Coding embedded with PMA Ltd.Annual wage
£8,236.80
Working week
You would be at the surgery full time (30 hours a week) on Monday to Friday between the surgery opening times (8am - 6:30pm).

What will the apprentice be doing?
Your role will be to book appointments, process medication requests for our regular patients and nursing home residents.
You will also be responsible for processing registration forms and the clinical coding of documents (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner and in accordance with current policies.
You will also be primarily responsible for handling and completing patient queries and passing messages to the clinical and non-clinical teams as required.
- Opening up/lockingup of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols.
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system.
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone.
- Consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail.
- Deal with patients and visitors enquiries.
- Taking messages and passing on information.
- Filing and retrieving paperwork.
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures.
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
- Preparation of consulting rooms for sessions including switching on the computers and ensuring that the rooms are tidy and ready for use by the clinicians.
- Clearing and restock consulting rooms as required.
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff and visitors as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing.
- Monitoring of stationery and other supplies and informing appropriate person when supply is low.
- As the first point of contact for complaints, advise the patient of the practice'scomplaint procedure.
- Triage patients to other services that may meet their needs such as voluntary agencies etc.
- Act as chaperone for doctors as and when required.
- Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The successful apprentice will be enrolled on the Business Admin apprenticeship level 3 with Clinical Coding embedded with PMA Ltd.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
After gaining the experience and completing a level 3 in business administration with clinical coding, you will be able to work within the GP primary care sector or in a similar setting as a full time Receptionist/Administrator.
