Dumfries and Galloway Council is looking for a Workshop Technician (Vehicle & Plant mechanic) to join our vehicle maintenance team based at Stranraer Workshop, Stranraer. The successful candidate will be working with a well-organised professional team, within our modern well equipped vehicle maintenance workshop. You will be contracted to 36 hours per week with optional overtime paid at time and a half and double time for unsociable hours.

You will fully maintain the Council's varied fleet which includes small Plant, trailers, HGV's, buses, minibuses, cars, vans, and other specialist equipment used within the Councils front line daily operations. You will ensure that all preventative maintenance, test preparation, servicing and repairs are carried out to the standard required in compliance with all Transport and Health & Safety legislation. The successful candidate will also get the opportunity to become a class IV, V & VII MOT tester.
Flexible to the needs of the service, you will be required to participate in overtime working and standby rota as and when required.
A full driving licence is essential, with LGV / PSV licence desirable.
