Salary:
G7 £29,439 - £33,820 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Housing Standards & Improvement Team for a highly motivated individual who is either CIEH qualified or has significant relevant local authority experience to work as a Housing Technical Officer.
The role will involve working on a whole range of things from HMO licensing investigating disrepair complaints and taking enforcement action, and on specific housing related projects.
About the team
The team deals with all aspects of Private Sector Housing, including, minimum energy efficiency standards in rented accommodation, Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO), Empty Homes, Disabled Facilities Grants as well as public health matters.
Is the Housing Technical Officer role for you?
You must meet the following criteria to be considered for this role
- Be qualified to the level of BTEC National Certificate / Degree / HNC in Housing, Public Health, Environmental Health Studies, surveying or other relevant field with a property / building surveying bias.
Significant relevant experience is acceptable as an alternative to these qualifications. - Valid / recent Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) Certificate of competence (minimum of 1 day course); and
- Recent experience of local authority housing related environmental health role, or Housing technical role within a regulatory or procedural role.

This post is based primarily on working (and travelling to visits) from home, although there will be opportunities to work from the office, particularly where this links with the preparation of enforcement notices.
This post is covered by the Government's Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.
The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
