    Site Leadership & Technical Capability Leader

    Barrow Mill, Cumbria

    Your role

    As Technical Capability Leader you will be supporting site operational activities through the training and development of all our day support and technical teams. You will collaborate closely with the SLG and department/asset leaders to provide all capability and development needs across the whole manufacturing operation. You will own and lead all legislative training requirements and develop, facilitate, and support all technical and educational capability building. The role will also see you continuously improving our current standards and processes with a desire to make a proactive difference.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Leadership Team and Mill Leaders ensuring training needs are effectively resourced
  • Facilitation or co-ordination of all technical training requirements, including Process, Mechanical and Electrical
  • Support development of and manage capability plans and training matrices which ensure that all individuals are competently trained and skilled to the right level to be effective in their roles.
  • Develop competency assessment against SOP's.
  • Ensure that the Mill's training systems are effective and that mandatory gaps in training needs are highlighted to team leaders and all legal and mandatory training needs on site are met
  • Ensure Corporate L&D initiatives & training are implemented on site
  • Deliver or arrange training for other mill objectives, EHS Standards, Quality Standards or corporate L&D initiatives.
  • Support site leaders in incident & accident investigation through technical training knowledge & providing training records
  • Monitor and report the costs of training
  • Record and maintain the training records on site in line with corporate and audit requirements
  • Lead ongoing vocational training programmes, including involvement in apprenticeship programmes.
  • Work closely with the Operations Capability Leader to ensure delivery or co-ordination of all mobile plant (and attachments), Crane & Hoist, MEWP and slinging/ lifting training & refreshers.
  • Organise external training bodies to deliver specialist training requirements.
  • Experience of lean methodologies and a technical background would be desirable.
  • What you'll need:

  • A minimum of a Level 3 (NVQ or equivalent) Training or Learning & Development qualification required or commitment to complete training
  • Strong technical background
  • Understanding of LEAN Mental Models and methodology
  • Background in FMCG environment desirable
  • Previous training experience desirable
