Description

The Bar Council, which represents over 17,000 barristers in England and Wales, is looking for a Communications Officer to join its busy Communications & Marketing team.

If you are passionate about a career in communications, working with the media, generating social media and digital content, and devising creative communications campaigns for a globally recognised organisation with an interest in justice and representing the role of barristers, this post could be for you.

Reporting into the Bar Council's Head of Media and Communications, this role will be varied, interesting and challenging.

You could be drafting and sending out press releases on law reform to the media, helping to shape key messages to promote policy, research and events, and working with external stakeholders on campaigns to promote access to justice and the rule of law.

You will play an essential role in communicating the Bar Council's values to a range of audiences - the press, members of the Bar, policy makers and the public.

You will work with colleagues across the organisation, including policy, public affairs, services, and events colleagues.

What we are looking for:

Strong experience or a qualification in public/media relations or equivalent, exceptional written and oral communication skills with attention to detail, experience with social media platforms and of working with the media, as well as an interest in the law, the legal sector and justice.

The ability to use your initiative and be creative in the way the Bar Council communicates its work and role in the interests of justice is a must.

In return the Bar Council offers excellent terms and conditions of employment, including:

  • Up to 31 days annual leave
  • Up to 12% employer's pension contribution
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Life cover, and more

Closing date:
Midnight, Sunday 14 May 2023

First interviews:
Monday 22 May 2023
