The purpose of the role is to manage the financial performance of a Yacht Construction Business Unit, at one of the Company's Shipyards in Poole, Dorset.


Typical activities will be split as follows;

  • Business and Management Insight (40%): Provide insightful financial management information & reports and key performance indicators.
  • Business Partnering (40%): Support the Business Unit manager and local management teams. Regular reviews of performance (Boat delivery, net contribution, gross operating costs and recovery of overheads).
  • People development and review financial activities (10%): Support the business decision making process, particularly on inhouse vs outsource projects.
  • Change management and streamline processes (10%): Ensure all processes are followed correctly and are consistent in approach to the rest of the business.

MAIN TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare and deliver a 'Boat Line Review' presentation to the Executive Committee and senior management team every 2 months, focused on the financial outlook for each of the boat lines within your Business Unit (Actual vs Budget/Forecast).
  • Conduct weekly performance reviews (onsite) with each Production Manager focusing on labour efficiency, labour utilisation and delivery.
  • Work alongside the Business Unit Manager to forecast boat hours for the relevant boat lines and provide any necessary commentary for the Boat Line Review.
  • Carry out analysis of monthly management accounts for each cost centre to ensure all gross costs and recoveries are reflected accurately, plus commentary on any variance to Budget.
  • Manage the annual Budget and quarterly Forecast submissions for each cost centre to ensure that all costs are accurately reflected and submitted in the Adaptive software. This willinclude any CAPEX requests or Business Case submissions for future expenditure.
  • Support ongoing site strategy discussions and provide relevant insight into how these decisions will impact business performance.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE CONSIDERED;

  • Qualified Accountant via study with CIMA/ACMA or the ACCA Essential
  • Previous experience of Business Partnering and good examples of your commitment to previous employers Essential
  • Willing to work in a hybrid model but being present onsite in a busy shipyard more often than not to support your Business Unit
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Top drawer financial presentation skills and a hunger for exposure to senior teams and critical decision making
  • The ongoing right to work in the UK. (Visa sponsorship is not available for this position)
