About the roleReporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services, the Society has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Financial Crime - Strategy and Operations to join us.

The role will be critical in bringing in and implementing regulatory and industry standards in financial crime and the SM&CR regulatory responsibility of the Nominated Officer, at a time of exciting growth and transformation.


The person in post will be responsible for leading the delivery of effective first line financial crime risk management operations across both Savings and Mortgages, defining and implementing the Society's financial crime strategy at an exciting time of growth and transformation.


Along with timely and effective reporting to relevant committees including Operational, Executive and Board Risk committees, the role is also responsible for the leadership and development of teams and managers across the Financial Crime function.


Day to day, the role holder will be leading the development, operation and analytical capability of the Society's fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) systems and controls; investigation of internal fraud, anti-bribery/corruption and whistleblowing cases; financial crime risk management and ownership; and supplier relationship management with key third parties.


  • About youYou'll already be an experienced, collaborative leader who is highly credible and knows the importance of confidentiality. You'll be able to role model these behaviours and be skilled at engaging, influencing, and challenging senior stakeholders to Executive and Board level, as well as engaging with our Regulators.


With a strong financial crime background, you'll already have experience at ensuring the Society continually develops skills and systems to control and counter financial crime risks.


Your extensive experience will allow you to get under the skin of the market and what it's telling us, keeping the business abreast of the rapidly changing financial crime landscape in a timely manner.


Your retail banking experience will be pivotal in your responsibility as the Society's Business Owner for customer authentication, so the ability to actively build relationships across the business is key.
