Job overview:


An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Senior Clinical Fellow in the Departments of Upper Gastrointestinal (Oesophagogastric) and Bariatric Surgery, at Salford Royal Foundation Trust.

This is a 12 month post which will provide an opportunity for the appointee to learn and develop subspecialty-level skill in the management of Oesophagogastric cancer and Bariatric Surgery.


This post would be suitable for a Post CCT SpR or for a SpR (ST 6-8) who wishes to take Out of Programme Experience (OOPE).


Since September 2018, The Salford Royal Foundation Trust is the sole surgical centre providing Oesophagogastric cancer surgery & bariatric surgery for the entire population of Greater Manchester (3.2M).

It is estimated that the unit performed approximately 140 Oesophagogastric cancer resections and over 200 bariatric operations / year prior to the COVID pandemic.
