    Description

    We are actively seeking ambitious and talented Project Engineers to join our Projects Department. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be ensuring that we are delivering safe, effective, and efficient projects from inception through to handover across a portfolio of works. You will assist the co-ordination of the design for projects delivered within your portfolio, ensuring that designs are delivered on time, in line with customer requirements and to a high standard. You will assist the project manager in developing, updating, and delivering the works, ensuring there is adequate resource to complete on schedule and to budget.

    This position would suit someone with the ambition to take on challenges and deliver results autonomously. You will have the opportunity to lead the engagement with suppliers and our in-house construction team, as well as liaising with our in-house design team to provide technical solutions in real-time. WGM is a trusted contractor within the Water Industry delivering a wide range of Water and Wastewater Projects on a number of long term contracts. We are the sole MEICA Framework Contractor for Scottish Water covering the Central West of Scotland alongside frameworks for various water authorities in England.

    Main Duties and responsibilities

    • Conduct detailed site surveys, employing technical expertise for precise measurements, photos, and discussions with operations to understand processes and assess access and egress.
    • Identify process control procedures for asset/site. Good interpersonal and communication skills needed to build a collaborative working relationship with client operators to gather and aid in our understanding of the performance/operational constraints of the asset/site.
    • Resolve complex technical and logistical issues during project implementation, conducting design reviews, constructability reviews, and on-site checks to ensure the highest standards.
    • Engage suppliers and subcontractors for project services, ensuring design/scope requirements are sufficiently detailed.
    • Conduct thorough technical assessments of supplier quotations, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
    • Ability to lead internal and external stakeholder meetings, demonstrating technical proficiency and ensuring effective communication.
    • Support the Project Manager in developing construction methodology and programme throughout the project lifecycle, inclusive of pre-construction.
    • Develop and review Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), demonstrating attention to technical intricacies.
    • Regularly report project progress, highlighting technical milestones and outcomes during meetings with wider Project Delivery Team.

    To be considered for this position you will have at least 2 to 3 years previous experience within an Industrial Engineering role. Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical systems in an industrial environment. Experience of the Water Industry is preferable. Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license is required as they will be travel to various sites across the country.
