    Trainee Counselling Psychologist - Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom - Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

    A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an additional Highly Specialist / Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Trust-wide Adult Eating Disorders Service (AEDS).

    8WTE) and the successful applicant will be joining what are established outpatient and day care multi-disciplinary community services for adults with moderate to severe eating disorders. They will be joining a warm and welcoming team with a passion for the delivery of high-quality care. Prior experience of working with adults with moderate to severe eating disorder presentations is essential.

    This is with a view to ensuring soon access to assessment and evidence based psychological therapy.

    The post holder will receive supervision and support from the pre-assessment waiting list pathway clinical lead (Principal Psychologist) and will work closely with AEDS psychological therapies team.


    Over time, with the implementation of the AEDS transformation, the anticipation is that this role will evolve this is with the post holder being asked to contribute to other clinical pathways within AEDS, with associated opportunity to further develop specialisms and expertise within the field.

    Applicants must be registered as Practitioner Psychologists with the HCPC and have post-qualification training and experience in the delivery of NICE concordant psychological therapies for adults with eating disorders (e.g., To act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act To be aware of andimplement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection Policies, Procedures and legislation.o To carry out comprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments and formulation, planimplement and evaluate delivery of psychology interventions and consultations to supportpeople with specific and complex needs.o To actively involve people in developing and agreeing their own care plan, to act as anadvocate and ensure that there is proper regard for their dignity, choice, self-esteem,racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.

    The successful applicant will be able to drive a car and will have the use of a car during working hours.

    This is due to the requirement to sometimes travel between the AEDS bases (in Guildford and Epsom), and occasionally also to other Trust sites.

    Home Working Contract Only - Eligibility to high cost area supplement is conditional upon candidates residence and will be discussed on offer.

    Additional Responsibilities People with Learning Disabilities (PLD) To practice within a Positive Behaviour Support and trauma informed care framework. To contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of interventions driven bygovernment initiatives e.g. Transforming Care, LD Mortality review to promote positive healthgains for clients. Conducting neuropsychological assessments and using the information to contribute todiagnosis and packages of care

    Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
    Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees (or completion within 12 months of commencement in post)

    Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.

    Demonstrable post registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care group.
