We continue in our partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute and we are committed to embedding UHCWi into the fabric of 'how we do things around here'.

This is based on lean but more importantly will be how you can connect others to our aims of:

For the cultural shift we need to further connect with our leaders and our front line staff so all are both expected to and empowered to continuously improve for the benefit of patients and staff.

We have made significant strides in training staff in Passport to Improvement and in Lean for Leaders but we need to further support these staff so that they use this training in their daily work making measurable improvements.

We need you to help us reach our tipping point aligned to our strategic objectives of patient first and model employer.

We will teach and coach you in the UHCWi method, the ask of you is that you bring leadership experience and the energy and openness to challenge and coach staff.

- previous applicants need not apply*As a KPO Practitioner you will support staff to embed their learning of key UHCWi tools. Provide support for staff and areas that are participating in Improvement events (RPIW, Kaizen Events). Develop ways to effectively spread the principles of 5S and other improvement frameworks throughout the Trust. You will receive coaching support from a KPO Specialist and training in lean for leaders and complete certification in advanced lean training.


This is about cultural change it's important that this role is right for you as much as us assessing you for the role, so to this end we encourage you to speak informally to any member of the KPO team.

Working within the KPO, the KPO Practitioner will support the KPO Specialists to promote a patient first approach and engage staff Trust wide in incremental improvement and new ways of working.

This will include providing continued support to areas following an improvement event including support to measure improvement.

Provide 'first level' education to engage front line staff in UHCWimethodology, this consists of simple lean tools and methods

Act as a role model, demonstrating the Trust values, whilst being visible, providing coaching, guidance and support for all staff

Provide ongoing support to teams and process owners as they test ideas

Providing feedback and communicate areas of concern to teams or services

Empower staff to actively participate in continuous incremental improvement

Following completion of Advanced Lean Training, act as Team Lead on week-long improvement events called Rapid Process Improvement Workshops (RPIW), supporting and engaging the away team prior to, during and after the RPIW week

Challenge processes ensuring teams develop and maintain a patient first perspective

Support KPO Specialists in preparing for large events and education sessions
