    Description
    Renishaw's Engineering Division in Edinburgh are looking for an experienced production assembly operator. You will be involved in the assembly and inspection of products to a specified quality standard, in-line with a defined production schedule.

    You will work closely with internal R&D teams on production and pre-production systems and will have a "can do" attitude. An element of the work will be 'hands-on' supporting and maintaining the store's inventory, both physically and electronically.

    As the successful applicant, you will be organised and motivated, with a high degree of attention to detail. Good communication skills are essential as you must work effectively as part of a team and on an individual basis.

    This is a chance for an experienced operator to join a new and exciting operation within the business, with an opportunity to develop and progress within the team.

    Responsibilities

    • Assemble and inspect products to defined standards.
    • The processes will involve optical, mechanical and electrical components.
    • Carry out inspection and test of materials, parts and sub-assemblies.
    • Follow instructions, both written and verbal, and highlight any deficiencies observed in the process.
    • Be involved in all aspects of the manufacture from goods-in to despatch.
    • Use the skills and techniques acquired during training, to work in an efficient and quality conscious manner so that product quality and production targets are met.
    • Inform supervisors of any problems that exist which may affect product quality.
    • Work sensibly and safely at all times, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and reporting all Health and Safety concerns immediately.
    • Maintain a clean and ordered work environment and adhere to cleanroom operating procedures.

    Key requirements

    • Electro-mechanical assembly experience.
    • A high level of dexterity.
    • Able to work in a cleanroom environment.
    • Good eyesight, with spectacles/lenses if worn.
    • The flexibility to adapt and continually improve.
    • A good level of PC literacy
    • The ability and confidence to operate test equipment and computer systems should the need arise.
    • The ability to read and correctly interpret build instructions.
    • Proficiency with technical information e.g., standard operating procedures and quality requirements.

    Desirable requirements

    • An engineering qualification.
    • Experience with ISO9001 quality systems.
    • Familiarity with ERP software
    • Experience of working in a cleanroom environment, or a willingness to learn.
    • A full UK driving licence.
    • Ambition to move into more technical production roles.

    Person specification
