  • South London**My client is a specialist manufacturer within the Rail industry. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in South London on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 5 or more years' of industry experience working in similar Mechanical role
  • Ideally be experienced in the Rail industry knowledge of vehicles and their assets
  • Industry knowledge from Mobility such as Rail & Marine to Power and Oil & Gas sectors
  • Excellent proficiency with CAD software ideally SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Inventor or similar
  • Proven ability to drive Engineering development
  • Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials sheet metal, castings, machining etc.
  • The ability to understand system requirements
  • Be selfmotivated with excellent attention to detail
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written

The Senior Mechanical Engineer role will involve:

  • Working within the R&D multi-disciplinary team
  • Leading client projects to convert ideas into designs
  • Working on new product concepts
  • Perform development activities and find new mechanical solutions
  • Being involved in the product design and development process using CAD
  • Working with high precision instrumentation products
  • Modelling, analysis and the development of mechanisms
  • Involved in building and developing prototypes
  • Conducting design reviews
  • Producing the relevant documentation that is required
  • Driving continuous improvement
