We are seeking an experienced and future-focused Associate Director of People to join our dynamic team.


As a crucial member of our team, you will work closely with the Chief People Officer and communities of expertise to develop and implement people solutions that align with our Trust's People Strategy.


Your responsibilities will involve providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for HR business partnering, employee relations, and health, well-being, and occupational health functions.

You will ensure managers have access to a professional and efficient people function, establish expert human resource capacity, and drive proactive and innovative approaches to meet workforce objectives.

Monitoring workforce data, supporting equality and diversity, managing budgets, and fostering collaborative partnerships are key aspects of this role.

You will also play a vital role in driving our People strategy, navigating complex employee relations matters, and leading the Occupational Health and Health & Wellbeing functions.

What we're looking for:


  • Extensive experience in strategic people management and workforce planning.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, driving organisational improvement and performance.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coach and challenge senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Track record of delivering successful change management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement people solutions aligned with the organisation's strategy.
  • Provide HR leadership, including employee relations and wellbeing functions.
  • Develop HR capacity and capability to support strategic change management.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to achieve workforce objectives and track HR metrics.
  • Support the Chief People Officer in board meetings and projects.
  • Drive HR service transformation and improvement.
  • Develop and monitor the People Strategy aligned with the business strategy.
  • Manage budgets and ensure optimal resource utilisation.
  • Coach and develop leaders for compassionate and inclusive behaviours.
  • Ensure compliance, conduct research, and foster partnerships with unions and stakeholders.
