Description
Junior content designers help to identify users' needs and match them to the right type of content.

You will use language and other techniques to help people get the information they need, in the way they need it.

You make sure it's easy to find, use and understand.

You will use research and data to make the right content decisions. You help to make sure users' goals are met and that content or services meet policy intent. You make sure content is accessible and consistent with Defra and GOV.UK standards.


You will be working on projects that enhance biosecurity, improve animal welfare and make agriculture, fishing and food more sustainable.

Responsibilities

  • Support content design across GOV.UK and the intranet to meet user needs and departmental priorities
  • Help to monitor and improve content based on user research and analytics data
  • Use the GOV.UK style guide and other standards to design high quality content
  • Build relationships and work with policy, legal and other colleagues to create accurate and consistent content
  • Explain content design processes and decisions to nondigital colleagues
  • Be an active member of the Defra content design community

Skills and experience

  • Work effectively with policy, legal and other colleagues and explain content decisions to them
  • Write and edit using a style guide and in plain language, making sure content is accessible
  • Design content around user needs and explain this in a way that other people can understand
  • Use data and user research to make content decisions
  • Handle constructive criticism of your work and constructively review other people's work
  • Understand how your work fits into a wider organisational context

£32,136.00-£38,551.00 per year
