Applications are invited for three full time Fellowship posts specialising in Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology.

One post is available immediately, for a fixed term of 7 months.

Two posts are available from August 2023, for a fixed term of 12 months.


The successful applicants will be exposed to a wide range of all types of ocular motility disorder and appropriate surgery.

There will be wide exposure to paediatric ophthalmology including the management and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity, paediatric cataract, paediatric neuro-ophthalmology and paediatric retinal and genetic diseases.

There is extensive experience of adult motility including the use of botulinum toxin. Some clinical sessions will take place at the Moorfields Satellite sites based outside City Road.

The timetable is comprised of 8 direct clinical care sessions and 2 study / admin sessions across a Monday to Friday working week.

The post holders must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice.

  • To ensure clinical guidelines and protocols are adhered to
  • To work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team


There is no on call element associated with this post but the applicant is expected to be available for calls from Moorfields A&E department during normal working hours.

The Strabismus and Paediatrics service is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of Consultant Surgeons, Consultant Paediatricians, Associate Specialists, Clinical Fellows and Specialist Trainees, Orthoptists, Nurse Practitioners and Optometrists.
