    Description

    We are looking for a Principal Planning Officer to join a Local Planning Authority in East Anglia for an initial 6 months.



    This council is looking for a highly experienced Principal Planner to come on board and work on range of large scale residential housing schemes and infrastructure related applications as well as some smaller more complex schemes in rural and greenbelt areas. This caseload will vary from applications of 100 units up to 1000 plus and will give you the chance to work on a variety of applications. This role is situated within a small diverse team focused on major development in the area.

    Duties will include;

    • Managing a caseload of major planning applications within statutory time frames
    • Provision of paid pre-application advice to developers, architects and external consultants
    • Attending site visits
    • Prepare detailed committee reports
    • Mentoring and signing off delegated reports
    • Negotiate finalize and discharge conditions
    • Coordinate appeals

      Pay Rate: up to £55/h

      Contract duration: 6 months with a view to extend on a rolling basis

      Successful candidates will have a degree in Town & Country Planning or an affiliated subject, with practical experience as a Senior or Principal Development Control Officer in the UK working on major applications.

      In addition, you will have a natural enthusiasm and interest in major development in conjunction with excellent verbal and report writing skills.
