We are recruiting a Business Systems Coordinator who can define, design, implement systems and reporting required by the various sections, especially, but not exclusively, Finance & Contracts, in order to ensure the NIHR BioResource Business Team can operate effectively & efficiently, providing the service that the wider NIHR BioResource requires.

About the job:


The Business Systems Coordinator will:


Define the requirements for new systems & reporting for the Business Team, working with the team members responsible for the section.

Design and implement the systems and reporting.

Maintain and administer the systems and reporting used by the Business Team.


Map and maintain process workflows, and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, including new software to improve efficiency and effectiveness.


Provide finance admin support, including:
raise & manage purchase orders, process & pay supplier invoices, process expense claims for staff and NIHR BioResource participants, at all times ensuring compliance with University Financial Regulations


Support the Finance Coordinator in grant funding and financial management and reporting activities: preparation of monthly management accounts, income and expenditure analyses and reports to budget holders.


About you:


Ideally you will have the following:

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrate factual and/or theoretical knowledge of Finance Administration
  • Intermediate/Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel & VBA
  • Experience in finance or administrative roles, ideally in a funding related environment
  • Experience in using standard Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel
  • Experience of implementing and using systems & reporting tools
  • Experience in process mapping, design & implementation

This appointment is full-time, 36.5 hours per week; part-time to 80% will be considered. Work
- life balance is important, and we are open to discussion on flexible working, including hybrid working.

The post is available on a fixed-term basis until 30 November 2024 in the first instance. NIHR BioResource is funded by the National Institute for Health & Care Research (NIHR) on a 5-year funding cycle.

It has been announced recently that NIHR BioResource will receive new funding for the next 5 year period, and it expects contracts to be extended beyond November 2024.
