    Job summary

    At this exciting time for the Trust, we are looking for a talented individual to join as our Associate Director of Strategy working to the Chief Strategy Officer who is board director.

    You will work alongside executive directors and the senior leadership team in the coordination and publication of a new trust strategy which will steer the trust through the next five years.

    This role will require someone to work independently across the organisation and with senior partners to ensure the strategy is aligned with our wider system and encompasses our plans for medical services, digital, people and management of our finances over the long term.

    Alongside this role, the individual will be required to lead strategic projects to ensure the delivery of the strategy. This will include leading the trust annual business planning process to ensure our services align with our budgets and enable to delivery of the 5-year strategy.

    Main duties of the job

    We are open to hearing from individuals from a range of backgrounds with a successful track record of strategy work at a consulting firm or in-house strategy work. Experience in the NHS is not essential but may be useful.

    The individual may be already operating in a senior position or looking to step into their first director position. The key skills required to be successful in the role will include:

  • Self-starter, skilled problem solver with a can-do attitude, able to deliver at pace and in a highly pressured environment.
  • Exceptional stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Excellent, engaging communicator.
  • Able to work across multi-functional teams to draw key themes.
  • Experience of initiating and delivering complex cross-organisation projects.
  • Experience in managing up and across. This role will require someone to work closely with the board of directors but also with peers and stakeholders, so being able to adapt style to stakeholders will be key.
  • Strong literacy and MS PowerPoint skills ensuring large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data can be distilled and communicated in a simple, effective way.

  • Educated to Masters level or have equivalent experience

  • Track record of innovation in transformation, developing new models of care, contracting approaches and/or supporting innovative provider development / market management activities
  • Experience of health strategy development and implementation of complex programme delivery
  • Experience of successfully gaining senior stakeholder engagement and/or using account management techniques to develop, communicate and execute business plans, business cases & contracts and to turn strategy into service.
  • Evidence of system wide working and of developing effective networks and strong relationships with clinicians and partners
  • Experience in developing Board-level reports and presentations
  • Track record of planning and delivering a portfolio of projects or programmes of work on time.
  • Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience working at a senior level in the NHS or partner agencies.
