Geographic Information Systems Officer
SALARY NS11 £34,723 - £36,928 per annum, pay award pending
37 Hours per week, permament

The newly created Geographic Information Systems Officer could be the role for you
Working in the Planning Development Business Unit, you will ensure the organisation's GIS functionality, software and data are kept up to date and in accordance with legislation.
The role will help shape and influence the Council to become more data driven by the use of technology and geographical systems.
You will be required to further develop both the current GIS and the self-service web-mapping platform (for both internal and external users/members of the public) and enhance integration with other systems.
You will provide advice to other Business Units including the training of officers on the use of GIS systems, Members, and Parish Councils, on how best to use, manipulate and interrogate data ensuring the use of GIS tools are maximised.
The post holder will be responsible for the ongoing review and procurement of any new GIS software (Newark and Sherwood District Council currently uses ESRI), including writing complex ICT system specifications, ensuring any existing and new software integrates with GIS including sharing of data with external partner organisations.
